Gigi Hadid’s Homemade Spicy Vodka Sauce Pasta

Um… YUM!

Gigi posted this tutorial on her story a while back.

I obvi recorded and gave it a whirl. ‘Twas was delicious!

I did go a little rouge and substituted mozzarella for parmesan (because I’m a sucker for mozzarella).

It wasn’t bad, but do think the parm would have been superior.

Next time (and heck yes there will be a next time!) I’m going to trot down to Whole Foods and invest in a really nice parmesan.

*Scroll to the very bottom for a few specific brands & tips that I think made this go from good to great!

STEP-BY-STEP RECIPE

Step 1: Sauté Onion and Garlic in Olive Oil

In a large saucepan:

Heat 1/4 cup olive oil.

Add a small clove of garlic, diced, and 1/4 of a shallot.

Cook till soft.

Step 2: Add Tomato Paste

Add 1/4 cup tomato paste.

Cook the sauce until it's darker and a bit caramelized.

Step 3: Add Vodka, Heavy Cream, and Chili Flakes

Add 1 tablespoon vodka and cook until it almost evaporates. (You can also skip the vodka altogether if you prefer.)

Add 1/2 cup heavy cream.

Add 1 teaspoon chili flakes — or more if you like it hotter.

Step 4: Season With Salt and Pepper and Cook Pasta

Keep stirring until the sauce is combined.

Season it with salt and pepper.

Remove the sauce from the heat.

Cook your pasta (about 250 grams for two people). When the pasta is cooked, save 1/4 cup pasta water before draining.

Step 5: Add Cooked Pasta, Pasta Water, and Butter to Pan

Add the cooked pasta, the 1/4 cup reserved pasta water, and 1 tablespoon butter.

Stir over medium heat till the cutter has melted and the sauce is "sauccyyyyy."

Step 6: Add Parmesan Cheese

Add 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese and stir.

Taste the sauce and add more salt and pepper if needed.

Note: Add the additional pasta water if the consistency is off! I added a spoonful.

Step 7: Serve Topped With Parmesan Cheese and Chopped Basil

Bon appétit!

Products I think made mine extra yummy!

1.) Roa’s Noodles

They’re an NYC restaurant and makes these noodles in Italy. I’m OBSESSED with all things ROA’S! If you haven’t tried their sauces, get on that!

*Theirs is delicious so if you don’t have time to make one from scratch, this one is UNREAL! Also what we use for the sauce on DIY pizza night in our house!

2.) Muir Glenn Organic Tomato Paste

I also really really LOVE this brand.

Best organic canned goods that I use for soup bases all the time!
